We are excited to be officially welcoming Lynn Dornan as our new Rotary Club of Yass Patron.

A Patron is “a person who gives financial or other support to a person, organisation or cause”. At our meeting on the 17 May our Rotary Club of Yass had the honour of appointing Lynn Dornan as Patron of our Club, and, in so doing, we recognise his contribution to Rotary over 40 years.

Lynn Dornan was inducted into the Rotary Club of Gosford in 1979. He was President in 1983-1984 and over the next 30 years he held many positions in the Club – including Bulletin Editor, Club Service, International Service.

Lynn’s service to Rotary went far beyond the Gosford Club. He was a stalwart of District 9680.

He served on various District committees and on the District Board; he led a GSE Team to India in 1986-1987; he was Counsel to the DG, he was District Training Officer etc. Lynn recognised the importance of Rotary International and its many achievements on the world stage.

In 2009 Lynn and his wife Valerie, moved to Yass and Lynn was inducted into the Rotary Club of Yass in April 2010 at our joint meeting with the Ginninderra Club.

He brought to our Club his 30 years of experience and his commitment to Rotary and Rotary fellowship. He was mentor to Club Presidents and shared his knowledge and experience with all members. He assisted where he saw a need, for example, at the markets; Lynn and Val worked the bread stall at each market for 10 years.
