Lookout updates
The Yass Rotary Lookout.
When the River View estate was approved, a site was set aside as “Public Park land”.
17 Irvine Drive Yass. A peaceful, tranquil,
scenic setting overlooking the beautiful historic township of Yass.
Yass Rotary put a proposal to the Yass Valley Council to develop the site as a public lookout with an entrance driveway, car park with provision for seating and a viewing platform.

Early steps….
In recent weeks Yass Rotary has continued to clean up the lookout site at Irvine Drive as it prepares for the construction of a new drive way and a carpark providing space for a minimum of 3 cars with a turnaround area.
Lookout native plantings commence
During June a team of Yass Landcare and Yass Rotary volunteers planted the first tranche of native trees and shrubs at the lookout at Irvine Drive Yass. The plantings will complement the aesthetics of
the lookout and protect the privacy of residential properties adjacent to the location. Yass Rotary is extremely grateful to Yass Landcare for their contribution to the project. A great example of local organisations uniting for good.
Next……
Earth works will commence as soon as weather permits, and the metal viewing platform is being fabricated and will be installed when the earth works are completed.
Interpretive signage is being designed in consultation with the Local Aboriginal Lands Council and will reflect the history of our area, native vegetation and points of interest.
